Tiger builds provide outs to veiler. The infamous argument against GBs is veiler. In a format where cards like Fiendish Chain and Effect Veiler are rampant, your effects are likely to get negated. If that's the case, tigerless builds don't really have an out to it while tiger provides it. If you're just playing tiger whenever you get a chance to then you're doing it wrong. You should be playing without it until you need it to break situations into pieces.

Here's something very simple. If I open turn 1 Shi En, how do you get over it with tigerless builds? simply put, you don't. There is no out available to tigerless builds that isn't also available to tiger builds, but there are outs that tiger builds have that tigerless builds do not.

i'm sure someone is going to say "but what about Solemn Warning?" to which i say Solemn Warning nails both tiger and tigerless builds.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me what tigerless offers that tigers don't. The only thing I've seen is consistency but the best players in the game use tigers so obviously that's not it. If for some reason you're ending up with hands with no GBs, then run proving ground to get GBs faster.

Another reason to run the card is, simply put, for secutor. It's your best GB and you can't really take advantage of it without tiger. if you wanted to secutor in tigerless builds, you'd somehow have to get him out one turn earlier without it being destroyed, while tiger builds allow you to take advantage of instant opportunities to bring him out for game changing effects.

It's been said before but I'll say it again. Tigerless builds can't do anything that tiger builds can't. But tiger builds can do more than tigerless. Why would you limit your options and your ability to actually win the duel by taking away a great card. And what are you putting in place? Thunder King Rai-Oh? an extra murmillo? Smashing Ground]?

so lets think about this.

What's the difference between opening GB and smashing and opening GB Test Tiger? The answer? A huge difference. If you can't see the difference in what those possibilities afford you, then you should not be playing this deck.
